On the shortest day of 2021, I began my annual leave and visited Sheffield. The myth runs that Sheffield was built on seven hills. However, there is no geographical confirmation of this haha. Nonetheless, it is truly a unique city, as it is totally maintained on hills. The views are magnificent from wherever you turn to admire and the people are truly warm and welcoming.
The view at night
The view of Sheffield just from across the railway station was beautiful, even at night. This is not too say that the hills and the positioning of things did not make me get lost. I lost my way, missed my train and had to book a later train. Would I go back to Sheffield despite the difficulty? Absolutely!
I was gutted that I only stayed for a day as it was a day trip. I didn’t get to do much. However, I met another lovely Nigerian International Student and YouTube. We recorded two videos together, chatted away and had a great time.
Food, more Chinese noodles and great people
We had vegetable noodles and beef noodles. The food was great. The lady at the shop was very friendly. We learnt a bit of Chinese, “Sie sie” (Thank you) and “ni hao” (Hello). There were also brief chats about mandarin being old Chines. Chats about the free adzuki beans soup which Ronke really enjoyed.
It was a great day. If you’re ever thinking of somewhere to visit in the UK that is very close to London, Sheffield has got you! Enjoy your day trip to Sheffield.
